What should I do after a flood, sewage backup, or pipe break?

The first thing you should do is stop the water flow wherever possible.  Depending on where the water flow is coming from, this may involve turning the main shutoff valve off or stopping the incoming water from its source if possible. Then contact Buckeye Clean Care immediately! You do not want to delay, since mold can begin to grow after twelve hours. The longer water sits, the more opportunity it has to damage the structure.  Wood, drywall, and carpet are especially susceptible to mold growth if not dried immediately.  Buckeye Clean Care will work with your insurance company to begin the claim process.

In the event of a sewage backup, avoid the affected area whenever possible. If there is standing water in an area with electrical appliances, turn off the breakers and do not enter the room under any circumstances.
